About this Park

Located on the western bank of the Mulgrave River in Gordonvale, Far North Queensland, CMCA Greenpatch Campground offers a relaxed, dog-friendly camping experience just a short walk from the local shopping centre. Now managed by CMCA, this council-owned campground is no longer free - payment is required to confirm your site booking.

The campground features:

42 unpowered grass sites, including tent-only and all-weather drive-through options
Public dump point
On-site custodian
Adjacent public amenities and coin-operated showers (2 x $1 coins required)
Some of the 8 or 10 metre sites will have shade cover
All campers welcome including walk-ins with tents and car accommodation

Maximum stay limit of 7 nights in any 21. The maximum stay applies collectively to all persons travelling or staying together. Separate or consecutive bookings made under different names do not reset or extend the maximum stay period.

Greenpatch welcomes all types of campers, and self-containment is not required. We do not offer overnight vehicle storage. Whether you're travelling in a van, motorhome, or pitching a tent, this peaceful riverside location is a perfect base to explore Gordonvale and the surrounding region.

Park rules

Same-day bookings close at 6:00 pm AEST
Maximum stay of 7 nights within any 21-day period
Park guests must familiarise themselves with Park Specific rules and comply with Custodian directives at all times.
Gates close at 6.00pm each night and there will be NO entry after 8.00pm without prior arrangement.
Check in recommended after 1:00pm, check out before 11am otherwise further fees will apply.
NO permanent camping. Maximum continuous stay of strictly 7 Nights in any 21 Night period.
Site Fees MUST be paid prior to your night’s stay. Guests who fail to make payment by 6:00pm that day may be asked to vacate immediately.
NO grey or black water to be discharged to the ground, no matter what site you are on. You must use the dump point to empty your wastewater or take it with you. If you do not have a sealed container please borrow a wheeled tote from the Custodian. A bucket is not acceptable to collect and carry wastewater to the dump point.
Pets MUST be on leads always when outside the vehicle, with leads no longer than 2m, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after your pets. Pets are not permitted near any food preparation areas. A maximum of two pets per site.
NO personal campfires are permitted.
Make yourself aware of site emergency procedures - these will be displayed on the noticeboard and signage. The Custodian will advise you of any evacuation orders and a siren will advise of the need to evacuate immediately.
Generators only permitted between 8:00am and 7:00pm for no longer than 4 hours in a day and 2 hours at a time, and only to run when someone is present at the RV. Please be aware of your neighbours when using generators.
NO smoking or vaping is permitted within the park grounds unless inside the guest’s own vehicle and this is not to impact other guests.
Abusive, disruptive, and unruly behaviour will NOT be tolerated and can result in removal from the park.
Keep noise to a minimum and no noise after 9pm. Guests are responsible for visitor behaviour.
NO washing of vehicles or RVs within the campground.
All guests have access to the communal amenities and coin-operated showers.
Visitors are to park their vehicle outside the campground.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancel more than 48 hours before noon on your check-in day and receive a full refund to your original payment method or a Park Funds credit.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of noon on your check-in day, and no-shows, are not eligible for a refund.
No refunds apply for early departures or shortened stays after check-in.

Hosts and campsite were great. Road noise, as camp is below adjoining Bruce Highway. Worst thing was the adjoining local original occupiers, making lots of concerning noises from 11pm-3am

Good location for Cairns and surrounding areas, toilet available and dump point, hot shower $2, cool shower free. Amenities were very good for the site cost. Grass could be cut more often it was quite long in parts

Greg was a fantastic host, great spot, happy hr was great to chat to fellow travellers, showers fabulous, can’t fault this place Well managed and great cheap place to stop. *** Please note travellers a camp host is not available 24hrs around the clock so please use common sense don’t rock up at 10pm and knock on their caravan door to check in… would you like it? “ NO!” So use your brains people Not hard

First time users. On arrival greeted by caretaker nothing was any trouble. Had a good site for one night. Amenities were clean and tidy. Would consider using cmca parks in future.

A most enjoyable stay. Nice size sites, very clean ablutions with hot showers. Host was polite and very helpful. Only 3 minute walk into Gordonvale. Will definitely stay again.

Another great CMCA campground, although this one has toilets and Showers, although it does cost $2 for hot water, but saves us filling our grey water tank, with shower water. Greg the host is amazing and easy to talk with. Once again thanks to CMCA for another low cost camp.

Another perfect stay. Site is the best. Love that the town of Gordonvale is within walking distance. Even Woolworths is an easy 3km walk. Greg is a very professional and friendly caretaker. Main reason I keep coming back. Shame he can’t be cloned. Thanks CMCA for a great stop.

This is a well kept park. Toilet & $2 showers available. The caretaker was excellent. He was friendly & welcoming. They loan grey water cassettes whist you are there. Highly recommend.

What a great location & Gordonvale is a vibrant little town with all the shops one requires. Close to Cairns and surrounding beaches. The park is very green, lots of trees and caters to all types of travellers. Greg, the manager was terrific. Amenities and dump point were clean and user friendly. Water is also available to fill tanks, Jerry cans, etc.

Always a great place to stay. This was a return visit. Sadly council hadn’t been to cut the grass & it was looking very untidy, especially around the amenities & dump point
